Biography

Rachel Williamson Smith, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Management in the Parker College of Business. She joined the faculty at Georgia Southern in 2021 after holding a position at Louisiana State University where she served as the Director of the Industrial/Organizational Psychology Ph.D. Program.

She has published over 25 scholarly articles and received the Gary M. Davis Excellence in Research Award from the Parker College of Business in 2024. Smith’s research has been published in outlets including the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Human Resource Management Review, and the Journal of Business & Psychology. She serves on several editorial boards, including the Journal of Business & Psychology and the Journal of Vocational Behavior. Her research focuses on employee well-being, including the work-life interface, workaholism, and work passion.

Smith teaches organizational behavior and human resource management courses at the undergraduate and MBA levels. Additionally, she regularly teaches continuing and professional education training to external clients. She is an advisor to the Nu Kappa Chapter of Chi Omega, serves as the Management Department Representative on the Parker College Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonginess Committee (PDEIBC), and serves on the University Faculty Grievance Committee.
