About the Presentation:
This presentation presents an overview of a wide range of legal issues or topics that startup companies need to be aware of. This will include issues relating to company formation, from the choice of entity type or structure and related considerations, to the choice and protection of company and product names. Other aspects of protection of intellectual property will also be discussed, as well as the development of basic form agreements for use with customers and relevant legal protections for Web sites.
About the Speaker:

Milton L. Petersen is an attorney whose practice focuses on information technology (IT) related transactions, including outsourcing, ERP, cloud computing, and healthcare technology transactions, other software development and technology licensing/acquisition contracts, e-commerce and Internet-related issues, and privacy and confidentiality concerns. Prior to attending The University of Michigan Law School, Mr. Petersen worked for over a decade as a computer and network performance consultant in the IT industry. Mr. Petersen has counseled a wide variety of clients, ranging from technology startups, to Fortune 100 companies, to various public sector entities, on a broad array of complex issues relating to IT law. After practicing for over ten years at two law firms in Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Petersen is now a partner at HunterMaclean in Savannah, Georgia. Mr. Petersen has authored various articles on IT law and has given presentations about IT law at conferences across the country.
