E-Zone Hosts Statesboro Downtown Master Plan Workshop
On Tuesday 29th November the Downtown Statesboro Development Authority (DSDA) held a “Statesboro Downtown Master Plan” community workshop in the E-Zone. At the workshop the team from Prosser Hallock led by Duncan Ross presented an update of the DSDA master plan project and explained some of the ideas that are being consulted on for the final report. The event was a great success with a drop in session at 12:00 and a formal presentation at 5:30pm.
A large number of people from the community attended, with a good turn out from the faculty and students of Georgia Southern University. The presentation focused on the various planning areas and included plans for: retail; residential; office; public spaces and transportation. A number of ‘catalyst’ projects were recommended, for example, a signature park and an event space. The planning ideas were generally well received and some constructive questions and debate followed the formal presentations. The Prosser Hallock consultants were particularly interested in the views of the students and invited them to give their thoughts on what would attract them to use the downtown.
The E-Zone proved to be an excellent location for the event, during the morning break out session there was plenty of space for conversations and in the evening members of the community enjoyed networking in the open areas. The classroom provided the perfect facility for the formal presentation and the organizers received many positive comments about both the master plan and the venue.
