5K to “CAP” Alzheimer’s

alz2On the morning of April 27, 45 runners lined up on East Main Street outside of city campus. The runners were prepared to run 3.2 miles in order to raise funds and awareness to help “cap” Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in America and while research is getting close there is still not yet a cure. Which is why Georalzgia Southern’s Enactus team partnered with Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority to put on this 5k. Together the two teams were able to put on a successful run that raised $850 for the Alzheimer’s association. Many of the participants claimed that it was one of the most beautiful and well organized routes of any run they had ever taken part in. First place was won by Jose Castanon who ran the 3.2 miles in an impressive 17 minutes and 55 seconds. If you would like to donate to the cause you can do so by going to alz.org.
