The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art, Animation concentration program at Georgia Southern University is a professional undergraduate degree designed for creative individuals who want to develop discipline-specific mastery and/or interdisciplinary professional practice in Animation. Offered on the Statesboro Campus, this program offers a fusion of traditional studio courses with animation for a well-rounded artistic education. This combination of studio experiences will not only develop your knowledge of professional practices, skills and technology, but also enhance your own creativity, portfolio versatility, and artistic voice.

Your coursework allows you to choose from studio classes that address traditional, interdisciplinary, and innovative approaches to creating art. In other words, you will sharpen your technical skills, learn to use industrial technology, and develop research skills that blend multiple art and academic disciplines to bring depth and meaning to your work.

All required courses for the BFA Art, Studio Art Concentration are offered on the Statesboro Campus and the Armstrong Campus.

Program Highlights

Throughout your time in our program, you will meet professional and emerging artists through gallery exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, and more. 

The Animation concentration is an interdisciplinary program that not only focuses on 2D and 3D Animation, but also allows opportunities for storytelling development through English, Film, and Multimedia Film Production courses. 

By the end of your senior year, you will have completed a body of creative work for exhibition as well as an Animation Production where you apply the skills you have learned throughout the program.

The BFA program fosters student success in an environment where ideas can be freely shared, providing hands-on learning opportunities, and helping students excel in their chosen artistic pursuits. BFA students actively participate in the University Honors Program and engage in research, presenting their projects at school events and professional conferences.
