Studio Visits
Successful art and design students require adequate space to explore, professional equipment to use when completing assignments, and the latest technology to ensure they are at the forefront of the design fields at all times. Providing students with the tools they need for success in their degree programs, the Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art has outstanding facilities in Statesboro and Savannah filled with professional equipment and current technology.
Prospective students and their guests are invited to take a closer look by scheduling a Facilities Tour. We encourage our guests to make the most of their time on campus, therefore, the BFSDoArt schedules tours around the Office of Admissions Campus Tours and the Department of Housing’s Residence Hall Tours.

Art Scholarships
While the BFSDoArt offers more than $20,000 in scholarships annually, Georgia Southern offers a multitude of other scholarship opportunities for first-time freshmen, transfer and continuing students who demonstrate strong academic and creative achievement across all three campuses.

General Eligibility
General Eligibility
In addition to University Scholarships, current Art and Design majors are eligible for various art scholarships and honors awarded within the department. Criteria for receiving these competitive awards reflect the student’s academic achievement and creative performance.
Except where noted, all Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art scholarships require a minimum 3.0 GPA
Students who receive the scholarships must have at least one academic year following the beginning of the next fiscal term (July 1-June 30) remaining before graduation.
How to Apply
How to Apply
- To apply, login to MyGeorgiaSouthern and click on the MyScholarships (Scholarships Application Portal) choice in the services section of the page. You will be taken to the online portal where you will complete a “General Application” as well as “Conditional Applications.” Then you will be automatically put in for the scholarship(s) you qualify for.
- Detailed step-by-step instructions are available on the University Scholarships website.
The deadline to apply for BFSDoArt Scholarships is January 31, 2024.
*The only exception is the Betty Foy Sanders Incoming Freshman Scholarship. The deadline is February 25. See the listing below for information on how to apply.

Review and Award Process
Applications are reviewed by faculty, in consultation with donors as requested. Selection will be made in the spring, and the scholarship will be applied toward each recipient’s tuition and fees during the following academic year. Applicants will be notified by March 15.
