Georgia Southern University Researchers Present at the 2024 Military Health System Research Symposium

A team of researchers from Georgia Southern University’s Waters College of Health Professions (WCHP) presented their latest findings at the 2024 Military Health System Research Symposium (MHSRS) in Orlando, Florida. Their study titled “Effects of a Neurocognitive Multitask Activity on Lower Extremity Functional Performance Tests in Healthy Military Age Adults,” explored the impact of neurocognitive multitasking on physical performance in young, healthy individuals.

The research was led by WCHP faculty members Sidney Stoddard, Ed.D., DPT, Joseph Kardouni, Ph.D., DPT, and Bryan Riemann, Ph.D., alongside Logan Hall, a current Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) student at Georgia Southern, and colleagues Ian Allen, DPT, and George Davies, DPT.

Their work provided valuable insight into the effects of incorporating a neurocognitive reactive component and a multitask neurocognitive reactive-recall component into a traditional single-limb hop functional performance test in healthy, military-aged adults.
