If you drop a course after the add/drop period, you have already paid for the course, so your awarded amount for the scholarship will not change. However, HOPE and Zell Miller payments are based on ATTEMPTED hours, not EARNED hours. Therefore, the class you drop will still count towards the allotted attempted hours for the scholarship.

***Remember, the HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarships stop paying out at 127 attempted hours. Don’t withdraw from too many courses so you can have as much of the scholarship pay for your tuition as possible!

**Make sure you check how you entered your name on your FAFSA! If it does not match exactly, you will not be able to create an account. This is the same for new registration for parent accounts as well.

No, the FAFSA alone can determine a student’s federal aid and HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility.

If a student only want to receive state aid, meaning only receive the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarships, the student MUST fill out the GSFAPP application and have it on file through GAFutures.org. The application is good for 10 years.

Go to StudentAid.gov and sign in using your FSA ID. Hover over the Apply for Aid link, then select the Apply for a Parent PLUS Loan link. The Parent PLUS Loan does require a credit check, so if the parent is approved, the next step is to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN). Hover over the Complete Aid Process on StudentAid.gov, and then select the MPN for Parents link. If this step is not completed, the loan will not pay out to the student’s account.

Registration Errors

If you still cannot register after this, please contact Enrollment Services at 912.478.3675, so we can review your account for errors.

As long as you complete your attendance verification for your courses, your financial aid file is complete, and your award package is ready to disburse to your account, the refund will either be available in your checking account (if you completed direct deposit selection) or a refund check will be mailed to addresses listed on WINGS approximately the 3rd week of the semester. Checks are mailed to the student’s campus address if the student lives on-campus, local address if there is no campus address, and the permanent home address if there is no campus or local address listed on the student account.

Disbursements for refunds will take place every Thursday after the first disbursement occurs for the semester.

***Please note that if you are in eCore/GOML or any other courses that are not on the same academic course calendar as Georgia Southern, this will affect your financial aid disbursement. You will NOT receive your refund until the second financial aid disbursement.

Students in violation of satisfactory academic progress standards who want to be considered for financial aid eligibility must submit documentation by certain deadlines, as indicated below. Review the Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy for more information. Appeals submitted after the final deadline may not be considered until the next semester.

The Day1Access program is a digital textbook model in collaboration with top publishers to reduce the
cost of required course materials. Access for all students begins the first day of class, with the option to opt-out of purchasing through the drop/add period.

As a courtesy, students will see Day1Access fees loaded to their student tuition and fees accounts by the 1st week of the month that the full-term semester starts:

Summer Semester: May
