Former Eagle Soars Higher
Steven Fisk Notches First Professional Golf Win

Steven Fisk, a Georgia Southern University alumnus, clinched his first Korn Ferry Tour victory at the 2024 Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club in Savannah, Georgia, on April 7. Fisk secured the win in a sudden-death playoff against Rob Oppenheim after both finished at 14-under 274.
It was a fitting first professional win for the former Eagle golfer, and a proud day for Eagle Nation, who turned out to see him play.
“Such a long day that somehow went by really fast at the same time,” Fisk said. “To get my first win right here in Savannah, so close to where I went to school, is kind of crazy. I haven’t had much success here in the past, but to get it done today is extra special to be this close to what’s kind of my adopted home.”
“Getting it done” was a nail-biter for Fisk, culminating in a sudden-death playoff.
He birdied three of the final four holes of regulation and nearly won the event with a sand shot on the 18th hole that would have been for an eagle and the win. On the first playoff hole, Fisk found the fairway and Oppenheim hit a fairway bunker and had to lay up for his second shot. Both players went over the green on their next shot and chipped onto the green. Fisk two-putted for the par and Oppenheim missed his par putt to secure the win for Fisk.
The victory was particularly special for the former Eagle, who had a strong contingent of supporters, including family, friends, and former Georgia Southern golf teammates, cheering him on.
“Definitely could feel the crowd on my side,” Fisk remarked. “I had a great group of people following me all week, and for them to come out and continue to support me is so special.”
A native of Stockbridge, Georgia, near Atlanta, Fisk was immersed in golf from a young age. His father, Christopher Fisk, built Rum Creek Golf, a nine-hole par-3 course, where young Steven honed his skills. Despite critiques about his unconventional grip, Fisk remained steadfast in his technique, a decision that paid off.

As an Eagle, Fisk garnered numerous accolades, including nine career wins and a standout senior season in 2018-2019, where he won six tournaments. His runner-up finish at the 2019 NCAA Championship was a precursor to his run at a professional career. Transitioning to the professional circuit, Fisk faced challenges, but kept after it. After an undistinguished 2021 season, he earned Korn Ferry Tour membership with a strong performance at Q-School and gradually improved his standing.
“Steven is very deserving,” said Eagle head coach Carter Collins. “He’s fought through a lot of adversity, and for him to get where he did today is a sign of who he is. He’s used a lot of perseverance throughout his career and continued to use it today. Hopefully we added a little bit of energy to it, but he created all the excitement. It was a special day.”
Two other former Eagles also played in the event and made the cut. Mason Williams finished T-9th at -10 and earned a spot in next year’s Club Car Championship, and Ben Carr finished T-48th at -2.
