“Fuenteovejuna” Coming to the Black Box Theatre

A new production of “Fuenteovejuna,” by Lope de Vega, is coming to the Black Box Theatre from Feb. 29 to March 7. The Theatre and Performance production is based on historical events that took place in the village of Fuenteovejuna, Castile, in 1476. Directed by professor Lisa Abbott, “Fuenteovejuna” occurs during the Spanish Civil War.

“Fuente is a powerful script that captures the essence of Spanish drama with its heightened sense of honor and duty while at the same time speaking to a modern audience,” said Abbott.

The curtain will open at 7:30 p.m. each evening during the production, with a 2 p.m. matinee performance on Sunday, March 4.
