Barbara Price Named CSAB Fellow
Barbara A. Price, Ph.D., interim associate vice president of the Division of Continuing Education and professor emerita of quantitative analysis in the College of Business Administration, has been named a Fellow of the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board (CSAB).
The CSAB Fellow Award is presented in recognition of individuals who have given
sustained, quality service to the computing profession and to computing
education through the activities of CSAB.
“Earning the CSAB Fellow was a big
and very pleasant surprise, and very much appreciated,” said Price.
Price served as the 2012-2013 chair of the
Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET, vice president of the CSAB
Board of Directors, and chair of its volunteer recruitment and selection committee.
In addition, she helped bring the information technology program accreditation
into the CAC.
A former Georgia Southern faculty member for nearly 16 years, Price returned to the University in April this year after retiring, to serve as interim vice president of the Division of Continuing Education. In this role, she provides vision and leadership in creating, developing and administering programs and operations within the division.
A native of Sharon, Pa., Price is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery, the ABET Computing Accreditation Commission, Decision Sciences Institute, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences and the Fulbright Alumni Association.
CSAB serves as a participating body of ABET, Inc., with three members on the ABET Board of Directors. CSAB is the lead society within ABET for accreditation of degree programs in computer science, information systems, software engineering and information technology, and is a cooperating society for accreditation of computer engineering, biological engineering, systems engineering and information engineering technology.
