Presents “Law & Disorder” Event

The Office of
Alcohol and Other Drugs Programs in collaboration with local attorney Troy
Marsh, Theatre South, the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health, Health
Services and the University Wellness Program have partnered together to bring
“Law & Disorder,” an
interactive mock trial about prescription drug misuse, to the student
population.
The
free event will be held in the Williams Center Multipurpose Room on Tuesday,
Feb. 18 from 6 – 8:30 p.m.
“After attending this event, we are hoping that students will understand the
consequences of using prescription drugs and will be influenced not to abuse them,” said Nicole Withers, administrative coordinator of the Office of Alcohol
and Other Drugs Programs.
A riff on the popular NBC show “Law & Order,”
the mock trial aims to educate students about the Georgia Legal System and
prescription drug laws. By attending, students will see how their lives can be
affected by one small pill.
“If a prescription is not yours, you should not be taking it under any
circumstance. That is illegal and dangerous to your health,” said Withers.
