Eagle QuaRC to hold annual Fall Symposium

Georgia Southern's Qualitative Research Community (Eagle QuaRC) is hosting its Fourth Annual Fall Symposium titled “Digital Tools for Qualitative Research” on Friday, Oct. 9, from noon to 5 p.m. in the Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology building, Professional Development Center.
This year the symposium will feature keynote speaker and workshop presenter, Trena Paulus, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Administration and Policy at the University of Georgia. A specialist in qualitative research, Paulus explores how new technologies impact qualitative research methodologies, in particular how conversation and discourse analysis techniques can be used to understand computer-mediated communication environments.
Paulus is the lead author of the book, Digital Tools for Qualitative Research, which illustrates how software can be used across the entire qualitative research process. During the symposium, Paulus will introduce free digital tools such as Evernote, Moleskine, Box.com, Sugar Sync, AnSWR and TAMS, and discuss the opportunities and constraints of using them in research work.

Since its inception in 2012, the purpose of Eagle QuaRC is to establish a campus-wide, interdisciplinary group of faculty and students who are interested in broadening their knowledge and application of qualitative methods and analytical techniques. Eagle QuaRC hosts workshops and lectures to help both novice and advanced qualitative researchers hone their skills and network with other qualitative researchers on the Georgia Southern campus. Eagle QuaRC also strives to provide a forum to showcase the work of qualitative researchers.
