These programs are approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission to lead to certification in the field of Instructional Technology or in the Media Specialist field. The Instructional Technology certificate is designed for those who currently hold a valid, level 5 or higher induction, professional, advanced professional or lead professional teaching certificate, leadership certificate, service field certificate or life certificate. The School Library Media certificate is designed for those who have previously completed a master’s degree, but prior teaching certification is optional.

Instructional Technology Certificate Program

The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development anticipates that graduates of the Certificate program in Instructional Technology will be eligible to seek professional certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission as a certified teacher/leader in their respective fields.

The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development has determined the required classes and educational activities of these academic programs will qualify a graduate of this program to take the GACE exam for Instructional Technology certification in Georgia. The department has determined that this program also satisfies the requirements of PA. Students residing in other states may have to sign an attestation to enroll.

School Library Media Certificate Program

The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development anticipates that graduates of the Certificate program in School Library Media will be eligible to seek professional certification by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission as a certified teacher/leader in their respective fields.

The Department of Leadership, Technology, and Human Development has determined the required classes and educational activities of these academic programs will qualify a graduate of this program to take the GACE exam for School Library Media certification in Georgia. The department has determined that this program also satisfies the requirements of PA, VT, and VA. Students residing in other states may have to sign an attestation to enroll.

Georgia Southern makes every effort to ensure information about educational requirements for licensure or certification is current; however, state requirements may change.
