Economics Students Explain COVID-19’s Economic Impact to Chatham County Commissioners

On Friday, October 7, three students, Alexander Kirby, Jacob Nielson, and Kimberly Trinh, from Michael Toma’s, Ph.D., Fuller E. Callaway Professor of Economics, regional economics class (ECON 4437) on the Armstrong Campus presented research findings about the economic impact of COVID-19 on the county economy at a regular meeting of the Chatham County Commissioners. The students’ presentation included information on how the pandemic affected employment, behavior, and revenue, among other factors that demonstrate COVID-19’s impact on the economy of Chatham County. Contributing to the presentation were student researchers Jacob Boyd, Dustin Denham, Elise Harris, Richard Pinel, and Matthew Whelan.
