About us
In Student Media, students have editorial control. Story ideas come from our members, and decisions regarding content are made by the student editor-in-chiefs.
Student Media is made up of five student-managed groups across the Statesboro and Armstrong Campus. Details below.
Statesboro:
The George-Anne Reflector: students in this group create a daily email-newsletter 4 days a week. This group also creates two print publications: the George-Anne newspaper (distributed one a month) and the fashion-based magazine called the “Reflector Magazine” (distributed once a year).
Opportunities in the George-Anne Reflector: AP style writing, design, and photography.
Your Newsroom: students in this group use professional multi-media journalist (also known as MMJ) equipment to record interviews and create video stories (also known as “packages”) based on TV production guidelines. Those “packages” are then edited together, along with prerecorded anchor “stand-ups”, to create the “Your Newsroom” show. This show is posted on YouTube every week.
Opportunities in Your Newsroom: MMJ reporter, broadcast anchor, video editor, production team member, social media, and graphic design.
Deep Dive: This group is focused on sharing the diverse voice of our students and community. Students within this group create the Deep Dive newsletter every Friday.
Opportunities in Deep Dive: AP style writing, photography, and design.
George-Anne Films: This group focuses on the social media space, creating TikToks, Instagram Reels, YouTube videos and more. Students post on a schedule determined by editor-in-chief. Students have the creative freedom to create whatever content they desire.
