Healthy Relationships

This one-hour educational workshop is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of healthy and unhealthy relationship dynamics. Topics include key terminology, the characteristics of healthy versus unhealthy relationships, current statistics, the impact of social media, effective communication strategies, and available support resources. By the end of the session, students will be better equipped to recognize warning signs of unhealthy relationships and foster positive, respectful connections.

Embracing Size Inclusivity, Body Neutrality, and Mindful Eating & Movement

This 50-minute workshop explores topics related to body neutrality, body image, and size discrimination through education and guided discussion. Participants will examine common myths about weight and health, learn about the importance of size diversity and inclusivity, and gain practical strategies for fostering a healthy relationship with food and movement. The session encourages a more inclusive and compassionate understanding of body image in today’s culture.

Alcohol and Other Drugs 

AOD Bystander Intervention is a risk reduction training program which teaches the students about safe substance use skills. Within this workshop, the students will learn about the definition of alcohol and the effects it has on the body, definition of BAC, standards of drinking different substances,  multiple harm reduction strategies, brief discussion of bystander intervention and overdose, and the amnesty policy.

Mental Health/Stress Management

The purpose of this program is to educate students about mental health and provide them with resources they can use during their college years. This program ideally raises awareness about mental health, reduces stigma around this topic, and promotes help-seeking behaviors as well as well-being practices. One of the main mental health concerns when it comes to students is stress therefore they will also be given tips and tricks to manage stress and practice healthy habits to reduce stress.

Sexual/Reproductive Health

The sexual and reproductive health training is an outreach program that provides medically accurate and comprehensive information to students covering many aspects of sexual and reproductive health. Within this training, the following topics will be discussed: terminology relating to sex and gender, anatomy and terminology of sex organs, sexual behavior, STDs, prophylaxis, medical health, sexual violence, consent, substance use, and pro -social behavior.

Sexual Assault Bystander Intervention

Through SART, our office coordinates and facilitates the GS CARES training program. This is a training that will cover definitions related to sexual violence, Georgia law regarding sex crimes, and discussions about consent. Students will also be presented with an explanation of the bystander effect, safe ways to intervene, and free resources that are available to all students.

Upstander Certificate

Don’t just be a bystander… learn how to step up and help your fellow Eagles! In partnership with The Counseling Center and the Georgia Southern Sexual Assault Response Team, we are offering the following bystander intervention programs: GS Cares, Substance Use Skills and Narcan Administration Training, and Question, Persuade, Refer. Complete all three trainings to receive an Upstander Certificate!
