Our Sustainability Efforts

Current Sustainability Initiatives

At Eagle Dining, we aim to continually reduce our carbon footprint. To further our commitment of creating a more environmentally-friendly dining environment, we implement sustainable methods to keep with our environmental awareness and responsibility policies.

Current Sustainable Practices:

  • Reusable plates, bowls, utensils, to-go boxes (ReUse Pass)
    • Reduces the total volume of waste generated that ends up in landfills
    • Reduces greenhouse gas emissions (single-use items have to continuously be manufactured and shipped)
    • Reduces water usage (water used in production of single-use items is higher that water used to clean a reusable item)
    • Reduces cost of goods
  • Trayless Dining
    • Reduces likelihood of overconsumption and food waste
    • Reduces water usage in dish room
    • Reduces labor costs for our dish room
  • Pulpers (SOMAT ® Model SPC-75S HT high tank, close-coupled pulpers / small disposals / mini-pulpers)
    • Reduces the total volume of waste generated that ends up in landfills
    • Aids in the conservation of water
    • Provides better sanitation
    • Reduces labor costs for our dish room
  • Recycling cooking oil and grease
    • Premiere Grease takes our waste oil and grease, repurposing it into biodiesel

ReusePass Program & To-go Containers

When you’re on the go, use ReusePass to grab something quick from our residential dining halls. During spring 2025, we launched our reusable container program at all three residential dining halls: Dining Commons, Lakeside, and The Galley. Reusable containers will be available to students who have already downloaded their ReusePass QR code and who have To-go meal access.

Disposable containers will no longer be available, and all to-go meals will be served exclusively in reusable containers.
