Hurricane Season Has Started – Here’s How to Stay Ready
The 2025 Atlantic hurricane season began on June 1. While we hope for a quiet season, it’s always a good idea to be prepared—just in case.
Here are a few simple steps to help you stay safe:
- Make an emergency kit with items like water, snacks, medications, a flashlight, and batteries
- Ensure your contact information for Eagle Alerts is correct so you can receive important messages from the University
- If you live off campus, know your local evacuation zone and have a plan for where you would go if needed
- Keep important documents in a safe place
- Check reliable sources like the National Hurricane Center for updates
Experts are expecting a busy season this year, but remember—it only takes one storm to cause disruptions. Staying informed and prepared can make all the difference.
