Financial Conflict of Interest Disclosure (FCOI) Process in Research

Georgia Southern employees are required to make certain disclosures, or confirm that they have nothing to disclose at various times for different purposes.  Conflict of Commitment focuses on disclosure of outside activity and is a separate disclosure. This page focuses on the Financial Conflict of Interest disclosure for externally funded research proposals and awards. For specific questions contact the Office of Legal Affairs (ola@georgiasouthern.edu), Office of Research Integrity (irb@georgiasouthern.edu), or Internal Risk, Audit, and Compliance (riskcompliance@georgiasouthern.edu).

The Cloud Express platform is currently used for the grant submission process and provides a direct connection between FCOI disclosures and grant proposal information, and allow the grant coordinators to see researchers’ COI status in real time.  Required CITI training completion certification (FCOI and Responsible Conduct of Research) is auto pulled into Cloud Express on a daily basis eliminating the need for researcher’s to upload their certificates.

A current FCOI disclosure and current FCOI and Responsible Conduct of Research training are required before you may submit a proposal for funded activity.

This is a 2 Step Process

STEP 1

Complete your training – CLICK HERE

Conflict of Interest (one course consisting of 3 modules, required once each 4 years.)
Responsible Conduct of Research training (one course consisting of 11 modules with refresher required as specified by your college.)
* Please make sure you log into CITI through your My.GeorgiaSouthern portal.
* CITI training is auto-pulled into your disclosure. This updates nightly.
* You must achieve an average score of at least 80% on all quizzes associated with each course’s module requirements

STEP 2

FCOI Screening Disclosure – CLICK HERE
FCOI Disclosures are now located within Cloud Express (the platform already used for grant proposals).

* For instructions on completing your disclosure, see below.
* You can not complete your disclosure until you have been added in the Key Personnel section of the grant proposal in Cloud Express. You will receive an email notification when this happens.
* Disclosure questions are related to ALL of your pending and awarded grants, not just your current proposal.
*You must update your disclosure for each new grant proposal or annually, whichever comes first.
