Continuing Review and Terminations
IRB Forms
Continuing Review
- Full board and expedited research projects are reviewed annually for renewal or continuation audit.
- Projects must remain current if any of the following apply:
- The project is still open for enrollment.
- Subjects on the project continue to undergo protocol related interactions (ie. interventions, data collection, etc.)
- Researchers are still conducting data analysis.
- Projects that are solely in the data analysis phase can be terminated at the discretion of the researcher with the knowledge that if any changes are determined to be needed or further data collection is needed, a NEW application will have to be submitted.
- Renewals must be submitted 15 days PRIOR to the expiration date listed on the protocol approval letter.
- Researchers are responsible for ensuring renewals are submitted in a timely manner. In addition, faculty research advisors are responsible for ensuring student PI’s submit renewals and terminations.
- Any changes to the research must be submitted via an amendment.
Termination
- Full board and expedited research projects that have ended, must be officially terminated with the IRB office.
