Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge and Engagement

Sustain Southern aims to educate and engage the Georgia Southern community about key sustainability concepts, issues, and solutions and to develop a culture of environmental stewardship throughout campus and beyond. In addition to Sustain Southern, students and employees at Georgia Southern have a variety of opportunities to learn about and engage with sustainability, including the School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability and more.

To measure the impact of our efforts, Sustain Southern has developed an assessment tool to measure sustainability literacy and sustainability culture. This assessment is administered periodically, in order to measure how results change over time.

The Assessment of Sustainability Knowledge and Engagement (ASKE) was developed by Sustain Southern, in collaboration with key faculty members. The ASKE is divided into two distinct sections:

Sustainability Knowledge: This section features multiple choice questions on various sustainability concepts, including energy, emissions, waste, water, economic sustainability, and social sustainability.

Sustainability Engagement: This section features questions that measure sustainability behaviors, opinions, and awareness of opportunities at Georgia Southern.
