Dr. Jodi Kennedy

Director

Jodi Kennedy is the Director of the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement. She provides organizational leadership to the department through strategic planning, budget management, and professional development. Jodi earned her Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Sacramento, her Master of Science in College Student Personnel from the University of Tennessee, and her Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of West Georgia. Jodi is originally from California and has been at Georgia Southern since July of 2006.

Jeffrey Marsh

Associate Director

Jeffrey Marsh is the Associate Director of the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement. He serves as operations leader for the leadership education and sustainability programs.

Jeffrey was born and raised in Statesboro, Georgia. He is Double Eagle with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and a Master of Arts in English and has served as a faculty member with the Department of English. Prior to returning to Georgia Southern in 2023, Jeffrey spent nearly fifteen years at The University of Texas at Austin working in both student and academic affairs.

CJ Parmer

Assistant Director for Service-Learning

CJ Parmer is the Assistant Director of the Office of
Leadership and Community Engagement. He coordinates the Service-Learning programs
and assists in leading the Community Engagement team.

CJ completed his B.S. in Sport Administration with a focus in Leadership at Louisiana State University, his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration at Georgia Southern University and is currently a doctoral
student at Converse University studying Professional Leadership. Prior to returning to Georgia Southern, CJ held roles in Student-Athlete Development and
Athletic Advising at Mississippi State University and USC Upstate with time also spent as the Assistant Director of Leadership Programming at the University of Alabama.

Rachel West

Assistant Director, Leadership & Community Engagement – Armstrong Campus

Rachel West is the Leadership and Community Engagement Coordinator for the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement on Armstrong Campus. She coordinates the Nick Mamalakis Emerging Leaders Program and our local service initiative program – Serve912. Rachel is a Double Eagle, and graduated from Georgia Southern with her Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Professional Business Communication in 2019, and her Master of Art in Professional Communication and Leadership in 2021. Rachel has been in this role since May of 2022.

John Poston

Coordinator, Sustainability and Leadership

John Poston is the Sustainability and Leadership Coordinator, overseeing the Sustain Southern program. In this role, he works to advance sustainability and environmental stewardship by leading student engagement with sustainability programs and developing environmental projects and initiatives.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sustainable Development from Appalachian State University. Prior to this role, John worked at the Catawba College Center for the Environment on environmental impact reduction, community engagement, and sustainability reporting. John has been in this role since September 2024.

Madison Brown

Community Engagement Coordinator

Madison Brown is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement, where she plays a key role in the coordination of the Serve912 program – Georgia Southern’s local service initiative. Madison is a proud Double Eagle, having earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2023 and her Master of Public Administration in 2025, both from Georgia Southern University.

She stepped into her current role in May 2025, after serving for two years as a Graduate Assistant with the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement. Through her work, Madison remains committed to fostering student engagement, promoting civic responsibility, and strengthening partnerships between the university and the surrounding community.

Kelsi Simpson

Coordinator of Student Government Leadership

Kelsi Simpson serves as the Coordinator of Student Government Leadership where she serves as the Primary Adivsor to the Student Government Association. Kelsi is a soon to be Double Eagle, with her undergraduate degree in Economics and Masters Degree in Applied Economics (anticipated). She comes to the role as a recent Graduate Assistant for Student Government Kelsi has been in this role since Spring 2023.
